BURR RIDGE, IL — In recent days, Burr Ridge police responded to cases involving a man hiding in bushes, a small fire, teens suspected of causing problems, an incident at a fitness center, a defiant child, an injured dog and a scam. Check the latest Burr Ridge police reports: Man hiding in bushes A resident in the 1400 block of Garywood Drive told police Nov. 5 that a man was in the bushes while her children were outside. The resident and her husband said they spoke with the neighbor, who said it was him. The resident did not want the police to speak with the neighbor and that she would talk with him the next day. Small fire A resident on Omaha Lane said a small fire started on a desk from a candle she lit to pray about 6:30 p.m. Nov. 13. She was able to put it out. There was no damage to the house. The Pleasantview fire department helped in airing out the house. Teens suspected A security guard at the Village Center, 490 Village Center Drive, flagged down a police officer Nov. 7, saying the center had photos of the teenagers he believed were causing problems there. Incident at fitness center The owners of a BMW found micronized creatine pills on top of their car about 5 p.m. Nov. 6 at Life Time Fitness, 601 Burr Ridge Parkway. There was no damage to the car, but they wanted the incident documented. They could not think of anyone who would want to damage the car. Police identified creatine powder left on a second car in the parking lot, another BMW. An officer requested a Life Time employee collect and dispose of the creatine pills from the parking lot. Defiant child A family on Kathryn Court called police about 1 p.m. Nov. 8 about their defiant 15-year-old son. An officer spoke with the son, who agreed to do his chores and be respectful to his parents. Police photos sought A resident asked whether he could take photos of Burr Ridge officers to be put into a movie. He could only explain that it was for school and did not give any details on why he needed photos of police officers. The resident was told the police would not take part. Injured dog found A resident on Meadow Hill Drive informed police Nov. 10 that she found a stray brown female pit bull Oct. 30 on Route 83 near 91st Street. The dog had numerous bite wounds. The woman wanted to adopt the dog. She checked the dog for a chip, but could not find one. An officer told her to keep the dog because it likely had been abused. The officer said the police would contact her if the owner reports the dog missing. Scam A resident on Tomlin Circle bought $3,150 worth of Best Buy and Google Play gift cards as part of an email computer scam. The resident gave all the gift card numbers to suspects before realizing the scam. The scam was reported to police Nov. 12. Loud noise Police responded to a loud noise complaint about 9 p.m. Nov. 6 near Johnston Road and Castle Court. The homeowner said her son's friend was having a birthday party. She said she would make sure they were quiet. Clearing head An officer found a 2000 Toyota parked in a parking lot at 1 a.m. Nov. 12 in the 9100 block of Route 83. A woman said she was there to get out of the house to cool down because she was upset with her boyfriend. She said she was just clearing her head and did not need any help. Raccoon A resident in the 8800 block of County Line Road reported a sick raccoon in the front yard about 9:30 a.m. Nov. 8. An officer found the apparently sick animal lying on its side with labored breathing. The officer fired a round to euthanize the raccoon.
