Description
I'm a local pianist / keyboardist looking to get back into live music now that COVID appears to be calming down; I'm putting together a jazz / pop fusion group to play local gigs. I'll be auditioning interested drummers, bass players, and melody instruments (sax preferred) in the coming months.
About me: I've played in a handful of Seattle-based groups, mostly jazz, covers, and jam bands. Places I've gigged include North City Bistro, Musiquarium, Seamonster, the Pink Door, Conor Byrne, Owl n Thistle, and lots of other random spots. I'm in my mid-30s and have a part-time career outside of music, so gigging doesn't pay the bills for me.
What I'm looking for: Folks around my age who are comfortable reading jazz charts and improvising. I love working with professional musicians, but just to set expectations, I can't pay you to rehearse or give you a guarantee on gigs.
Material: I'm greatly inspired by jazz (and all the genres jazz touched) from the 1970s and 80s; this group will be diving deep into that music. Expect to audition on tunes by Weather Report, Bob James, Chick Corea, Steely Dan, Steps Ahead, Bob Mintzer, Billy Cobham, etc.
Drop me a line with any questions!
