Where was the common sense when it came to dismantling US oil production and then turning around and having to rely on the Saudis, Russia, and even Iran to provide us with oil? This was an idiotic idea for many reasons but here are 3 rather obvious reasons this made no sense. 1) National Security. 2) Environmentally. It makes no sense environmentally to transport oil 7500 miles from the Middle East or 5200 miles from Russia to the US, when the US can produce its own oil. and there is no advantage in burning foreign oil over US oil in terms of its climate effects. 3) Simple economics. Why pay and support our adversaries when we can support and provide for our own economy?
