Description
I am rehoming my male Mali uromastux due to downsizing my reptile collection to focus on select species. I purchased him on November 21, 2020 from Curious Creatures in Chicago, who purchased from breeder at Tinley Park when he was estimated around 2 years old. Uromastyx have a 15 year lifespan, which means he could live over 10 more years. He has been consistently healthy and has not required vet care thus far.
We affectionately named him The Bachelor, although you are welcome to change his name. He is an exceptionally active and friendly; he will often scratch at the glass of his 4x2x2 enclosure, climb sticks and other enrichment with impressive strength, eat directly out of my hand, and is used to frequent handling. He has never bitten or shown any signs of aggression. He previously lived with other uromastyx and showed no signs of territorial behavior.
Uromastyx are unique reptiles because they have a complete vegetarian diet. Daily care includes providing him with a handful of spring mix salad (be sure to research which greens are uromastyx-friendly; I am also happy to provide a care sheet). Weekly care includes providing him with millet and lentils, and spot cleaning his enclosure for dried food and waste. Uromastyx have specific temperature requirements and will need a strong heat lamp to stay sufficiently warm.
I am asking for a rehoming fee to recoup some expense. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out; I'm happy to provide resources. Pick up in North Madison; can deliver within a reasonable distance.
