BUFFALO GROVE, IL — Like every other municipality in Illinois, the Village of Buffalo Grove has been dealing with its own unique data points regarding the coronavirus. According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, 801 people have contracted COVID-19 in Buffalo Grove since the outbreak began. That is an increase of 42 cases since Oct. 9. For further comparison, there was an increase of 44 cases between Oct. 2-9. The Lake County Health Department reports there have been 18,909 confirmed cases in Lake County. That's an increase of 963 cases since Oct. 9. For further comparison, there was an increase of 638 cases between Oct. 2-9. In addition, there have been 494 deaths, marking an increase of 14 since Oct. 2. For further comparison, there was an increase of four deaths between Oct. 2-9. The Recovery rate is calculated as the recovered cases divided by the sum of recovered cases and total deceased cases. The Illinois Department of Public Health reports 21,447 people have been tested across Buffalo Grove (zip codes 60069, 60089) as of Friday. That's an increase of 1,535 people tested since Oct. 9. For further comparison, there was an increase of 1,080 tests between Oct. 2-9. According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, 21 people have died due to COVID-19 in the Cook County portion of Buffalo Grove since April 6. The last reported death was on Sept. 29. As of Friday, there have been 243 coronavirus-related cases in the Cook County portion of Buffalo Grove, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health. That marks an increase of nine cases since Oct. 9. For further comparison, there was an increase of seven cases between Oct. 2-9. The Illinois Department of Public Health reports there have been 2,191 confirmed coronavirus cases and 339 deaths in long-term care facilities in Lake County. These numbers had not been updated since at least Oct. 2, so they mark an increase of 19 cases and three deaths in two weeks.
