Checking wires with multimeter

Question: Checking outside light box wires with multimeter (MM) on Voltage Setting: MM red to light box black wire & MM Black to light box ground wire = 120 volts. But MM red to light box black wire & MM Black to light box white wire = 2 volts. Does that indicate a problem?
