STRONGSVILLE, OH — A car chase which started in Strongsville ended in a crash in Cleveland on early Tuesday morning, police reported.
The chase began near Whitney and Bagley roads, at 1:10 a.m. A car was spotted going 95 mph and would not pull over for police. Officers chased the car onto the highway.
The chase ran along I-71 and entered into Cleveland at 1 a.m. on Tuesday, according to law enforcement. Strongsville police worked with the Ohio State Highway Patrol to try and stop the suspect's car.
Stop sticks were used to destruct one of the suspect's car's tires. The suspect's car then pulled into a gas station on W. 130th and then hit a nearby pole, according to Strongsville police.
After the crash, at least one person jumped out of the car and ran off. A K9 unit was deployed and the suspect was taken into custody.
A .38 revolver was found in the crashed car, according to Strongsville police. The Ohio State Highway Patrol then had the suspect's car towed from the scene.
