Columbus Blue Jackets Street Hockey Clinic at the Hilliard YMCA! CBJ Hockey To Go is a FREE introductory street hockey clinic designed for children of all abilities (with and without special needs/disabilities), ages 6-14. The clinic is provided in a welcoming and fun environment for all kids! As a part of ECRN+'s ongoing efforts to provide free and inclusive social/recreational programs, we've partnered with CBJ to offer this evening of inclusive hockey fun! Blue Jackets Fan Development staff will provide instruction and necessary equipment for kids. ECRN+ staff and volunteers will be available to help facilitate activities. The Hilliard YMCA is our generous host. **This is a free event but space is limited! Please register (participant only) prior to the clinic. ** A CBJ Hockey To Go clinic consists of the following: Introduction: Blue Jackets staff will give an overview of the clinic, brief history of the Columbus Blue Jackets and character expectations such as teamwork. Stickhandling: Participants will be taught the basics of stickhandling through practice drills and an obstacle course. Passing: Blue Jackets staff will teach the technique of passing, and participants will work together to practice their passing skills. Shooting: Participants will learn the mechanics behind a wrist shot and will have the opportunity to shoot on net. Q & A: As time allows, participants can ask Blue Jackets staff questions related to hockey and the Columbus Blue Jackets. TIPS & NOTES FOR PARTICIPANTS: - This is not a drop-off program. Clinic is a family event and parent/guardian of participant must remain attentive and on site. - We encourage participants to dress comfortable and ready to play! Gym clothes, tennis shoes, etc are recommended. - We are playing indoors on a gymnasium floor (street hockey) and NOT an ice rink. - Hockey equipment will be provided to participants for use during the clinic.
