Every year, hundreds to thousands of wildfires occur across the southeastern US, threatening homes and communities. Fortunately, there are actions homeowners can take to reduce their wildfire risk, such as fire-resistant landscaping or firescaping. Surrounded by the Nantahala National Forest, we live in what is known as the WUI, or Wildland Urban Interface, where forest and homes meet.
