Join us to learn how you can take practical risk reduction steps that can make your home and community safer during a wildfire. Every year, hundreds to thousands of wildfires occur across the southeastern US, threatening homes and communities. Fortunately, there are actions homeowners can take to reduce their wildfire risk, such as fire-resistant landscaping or firescaping. Surrounded by the Nantahala National Forest, we live in what is known as the WUI, or Wildland Urban Interface, where forest and homes meet. Wildfires can happen and have happened in our region, but there are ways to adapt your property to decrease the risk of damage and loss. Join us to learn how you can take practical risk reduction steps that can make your home and community safer during a wildfire.
