This workshop is to empower girls & women to celebrate their inner beauty, commit to kindness, & create art in a friendly environment Hey,I'm Cree. You may know who I am or I may be a stranger talking to you through a screen. I've been wanting to host this workshop at Project Human X for some time now. I'm a co-founder of PHX along with my husband Marquez and I will be leading this workshop. This workshop is important to me because I have struggled with body-self-image in my life. I am an eating disorder survivor who still works hard everyday to maintain a healthy outlook on my body & self image. Currently I am a mother and boy, we mamas see our bodies go through significant changes. I am happy to say things are much better than they were 10 years ago for myself & I am happy and healthy, but there's much work to do in the world. I know many of you can relate to feeling "inadequate" when it comes to society's standards of how a woman should look. Living in a culture where image can seem to be everything at times, I help you challenge the ingrained tendency to compare to others, Together I want us to learn how to mute our self-critical voices and move through other barriers impacting body image. Together we will create a "thermal body image" that is vibrant and sexy. We will have outlines of all sorts of body-types to trace onto a canvas (you won't need to draw anything free-hand). If you want to paint something different, we encourage you to go your own way and paint what feels right and empowering for YOU! The goal is for you to set new intentions about how you feel, think, and speak to yourself and others. Workshop Goals Include: Dismantling the “beauty myth” Changing the conversation from criticism to kindness Committing to being kind to ourselves, and therefore each other Seeing and experiencing ourselves as worthy from the inside out Recognizing our contributions through conscious activism Age recommendation: 12+ Parking is available in front of PHX, Underground Public House or at Kat's Krab n Go Your ticket includes all art materials, body traceables and PHX Artist Team members to help you through your process!
