LONG BEACH, NY — Construction is moving forward for Mount Sinai South Nassau's Long Beach Medical Arts Pavilion. It is scheduled to open in December, according to the city of Long Beach's Facebook page. The medical facility will complement the Emergency Department on East Bay Drive. Crews are working each day, as weather permits, as the footing and foundation are complete. The majority of underground utilities are also in place. The next phase of the construction is earthwork and compaction, the city said. Additionally, the balance of structural steel operations is underway. Most of the clinic services will be available Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Medical experts are expected to deal with OB/GYN, Orthopedics, Urology, Gastrointestinal, Cardiology, Primary Care and state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging. The 15,000-square-foot single-story facility will feature approximately 15 private, patient examination rooms and four procedure rooms, the hospital said on its website. Mount Sinai South Nassau is using the former site of Long Beach Medical Center, where the community had received its health care for decades.
