Sexual Assault Charge Filed Against Orthopedic Specialist: Police

SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VA — Virginia State Police arrested Michael O'Brien, a 66-year-old man, on Friday. Authorities claimed that O'Brien sexually assaulted someone while working as an orthopedic surgery specialist in the Fredericksburg area. Authorities searched O'Brien's house in Spotsylvania County on Friday. Officers arrested him without incident, according to the police report. State police and the FBI began investigating O'Brien in January. Authorities said "allegations of sexual assault" initiated the investigation. They did not specify any details about the assault. O'Brien faces one county of felony forcible sodomy. He is being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail. Virginia State Police said they are still investigating O'Brien.
