Press release from Greenville County Schools: February 24, 2022 Are you interested in a career teaching middle or high school students? Do you have a bachelor's degree or higher, with a major or emphasis in business, math, science, English, social studies, Spanish, French, or special education, but do not have a teaching certificate? If so, we invite you to apply for an exciting, innovative new pathway, The Greenville Alternative Teacher Education (GATE) program. Information sessions will be held on identified dates during March, April, and May. This district-based, job-embedded alternative certification program is the first of its kind in South Carolina and provides authentic teaching experiences with supportive mentoring and coaching. If selected and employed, you will have your own classroom in a Greenville County School, receive a teacher salary, and participate in ongoing, specialized professional development and coursework. In addition, you will have your own team of professionals who are dedicated to your growth as a teacher. Upon successful completion of the 3-year program, you receive a full, professional license to teach in the state of South Carolina. This press release was produced by Greenville County Schools.
