MISSION VIEJO, CA — A student in Southern California was hospitalized after he was stabbed at a high school on Friday. Another student was detained as the campus sheltered in place, authorities said. Around 1:10 p.m., deputies responded to a call from Trabucco Hills High School in Mission Viejo. Upon arrival, they found a teenage boy with stab wounds, the The Orange County Sheriff's Department's Mission Viejo Police Services said in a statement. He was taken to a nearby hospital with non life-threatening injuries while another teenage boy was detained. The knife was recovered by deputies. "This incident appears to have been an isolated event between students and the investigation is ongoing," deputies wrote in a statement. Officials called upon campus members and the public who took video of the incident to call the Orange County Sheriff's dispatch at 714-647-7000. "Thank you for your patience while deputies responded to the incident and ensured the safety of Trabucco Hills High School students and staff," deputies said. The identities of the two teenagers were not released.
