Description
Maggie Wachs Age (as of Election Day) 45 Position sought (including ward or district number if applicable) Bedford School District Clerk Party Affiliation Family My better half, Michael, and two wonderful school-aged kids. Also blessed to live near Michael's parents here in Bedford. Does anyone in your family work in politics or government? No Education Bachelor's in Human Development from Cornell University, Class of 1998 Occupation Web development, writing, and design; over 20 years with the same company. Previous or Current Elected or Appointed Office None Campaign website https://www.facebook.com/Maggie-Wachs-for-Bedford-School-District-Clerk-113875834538609 Why are you seeking elective office? I feel it's important to serve the community in which you live, and I have the skills, experience, and trustworthiness to ensure our school ballots and elections go smoothly and remain transparent to voters. The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it. Mistrust of our school leadership, and as clerk I would commit to open communication and transparency about the school votes to help rebuild that trust. What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post? My singular goal is to serve our community and our school district, and I have years of experience serving on a Bedford town board (Conservation Commission, 2017-2021). If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency) Not applicable. Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform. The school district clerk's duties are administrative, not political. But I encourage anyone with questions about my candidacy to please get in touch! What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job? I've worked hard to build a 20-year career in tech (web development and writing), and have years of experience serving Bedford on a town board. The best advice ever shared with me was: Start the way you mean to finish. What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions? I'll continue to work hard for the residents of Bedford, hopefully as their next school district clerk.
