Description

BATAVIA, IL — Batavia police said a 33-year-old man who was killed when his vehicle crashed head-on into a school bus had "intoxicating compounds" in his system at the time of the crash. Police say they have no reason to believe Adam D. Knisley intentionally crashed into the bus, which was carrying 39 middle school students. Knisley was pronounced dead at the scene after police say his 2007 Infinity crashed into the bus the afternoon of Nov. 23 on Hart Road, north of the intersection with Papermill Hill Drive. Nearly 40 students were on the bus headed home from Rotolo Middle School. One child was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. After reviewing the Kane County Coroner's Office's report, Batavia police said they believe Knisley's impairment was a factor in causing the crash.
