How do you know this person? There are plenty of ways to make them aware that you are polyam without coming off as desperate. Most people in this town are usually very open about it. Do you follow each other's social media? You could post a story that causally mentions the fact and it disappears after 24 hours anyway. They might even be the one to ask you out first if they clearly knew your relationship style.
