Description
It was Friday night, February 25th.
You were standing on the Glenn L. Jackson Memorial Bridge just before sunset, holding a Ukrainian flag.
I was driving north on I-205 from Portland to Vancouver.
It was freezing and windy out there over the Columbia river. For a moment I thought about how uncomfortable you must be but then I remembered all the Ukrainian civilians walking to Poland in the middle of the night and I knew that you were doing something more important than your own comfort.
I wanted to tell you that I saw you. I wanted to say, "Слава Україні. Слава Героям" but all I could do was honk my horn. I hoped you understood.
