Description
SOLON, OH — Solon is adjusting its rubbish and recycling program to better protect employees during the new coronavirus, COVID-19, outbreak. The city will no longer accept residential drop-off at the service department and mulch and compost sales will be suspended.
"We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause," the city said in a statement.
Automated curbside pickup will continue, without any disruption, the city promised. However, some changes will be required for curbside pickup.
Starting Monday, all rubbish must be placed in the rubbish cart — no rubbish outside of carts will be collected. Large amounts of construction debris will not be collected. However, appliances and mattresses will continue to be picked up (mattresses must be wrapped in plastic and sealed).
Household hazardous waste will be picked up curbside during the week of April 6.
City officials said rubbish and recycling policies may continue to evolve as COVID-19 impacts Solon, Cuyahoga County and Ohio.
Questions should be directed to the Solon Service Department at 440-248-5834.
