Who are you??? How are you??? Where are you??? Seeking experienced, well-rounded keyboardists and guitar players who also can sing. For guitarists, playing leads is great, and please know your instrument, but we need someone who also is a dynamic rhythm player -- think how McCoy Tyner approaches the keyboard, and Bob Weir juxtaposes Garcia -- who really understands how to compliment and color melody and theme within the song and also while improvising, sans noodling (not jamming but extending the music with a purpose and goal toward a destination). We're using the Grateful Dead, The Band, Allmans, Phish, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Neil Young, Wilco as a springboard to easily pick up songs and find common ground. We'll play obscure covers by artists of all genres (Madonna's "Vogue," for example, or Amy Winehouse's version of "Valerie") and are open to ideas. Our tastes are diverse. We also have originals -- concise 3:00- to 5:00-minute songs written for experienced players to enjoy adding personality -- that are solid, catchy, and memorable with attractive hooks, choruses that people can sing, and lyrics that tell stories. They create earworms and have great potential. We want to gel and work with musicians who show up prepared and have fun doing it. We're not looking to gig out at dives or empty rooms (but will coalesce around opportunities) and have long-term goals. Hard drinkers/bad drugs need not apply.
