Solon Politician Hosting Town Hall On School Reopening

SOLON, OH — State Rep. Phil Robinson is holding a virtual town hall to discuss the reopening of schools in the fall. Robinson, who calls Solon home, is hosting the virtual town hall on Monday via Facebook Live. He will take questions and discuss the fall reopening of schools. The event will run 90 minutes and starts at 6:30 p.m. "With the fall academic year approaching fast and so many people with questions and concerns about reopening schools, it felt essential for me to make this the focus of my next virtual town hall," said Robinson. The majority of Solon families prefer in-person education to remote learning, a recent district survey found. Most families want to see face-to-face classes resume in some form in the fall, the survey found. Robinson's upcoming virtual town hall will feature a panel of experts, including: Melissa Cropper, President of the Ohio Federation of Teachers (OFT)Scott DiMauro, President of the Ohio Education Association (OEA)Jackie Arendt, President-Elect of the Ohio Parent Teacher Association (Ohio PTA) and North Royalton City School Board memberJoelle Magyar, Superintendent of Brecksville-Broadview Heights City School DistrictSuzanne Hrusch, MPH, RS, and School Environment Program Manager with the Cuyahoga County Board of Health (CCBH)"Families, school staff, and all Ohioans need to be heard on their feelings of when and how schools should reopen with the pandemic still not under control. I look forward to a good discussion from the panel I assembled and hopefully we can make a contribution to the overall conversation on balancing high quality education for students with the health and safety of teachers and our children," Robinson added.
