Swing St. Vrain is a long established swing string band with two guitarists, upright bass, female and male vocalists. Django was our inspiration, but over the years we have developed a large repertoire of gypsy swing, jazz standards, bossa nova, choro, and klezmer. “World Cafe Music” describes what we do. Recently we have been focused on viper songs from the 1920s and 30s. The ideal candidate would be a female of any age who can sing harmony and improvise confidently on swing and blues material. We are all mature adults ranging in age from 31 to 69. We’re very nice people who get along very well and there is no drama. Weekly rehearsals are Tuesdays, 7 to 10 PM, in Longmont. Gigs are intermittent. Sometimes they pay well. We play weddings, dances, festivals, restaurant & bar gigs when we can. We set the all time attendence record at the Boulder Mapleton Hill Porchfest last September. We’re just beginning to seek gigs this year as the Covid situation improves.
