COVID is teaching us that we need to take better care of ourselves, so 'Let's Walk Miami Gardens!' For February's walk, we will honor both Black History and American Heart Months. The City wants to encourage our community to stay on the move. 'Let's Walk Miami Gardens!' to improve from what we've done in the past, feel good about our present so we can maximize our future. Come and make your heart happy. Meet us on the track at Betty T. Ferguson Park at 7 am on February 26th to honor Black History and American Heart Months. The second walk will be in May in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month and a third walk will be in September for Alzheimer's Awareness Day. We look forward to having the community come together to walk for a cause. The City of Miami Gardens celebrated its 18th anniversary in 2021, since its incorporation. With a population of approximately 113,000, it is the third largest city in Miami-Dade County. Miami Gardens is a solid professional community of unique diversity. It is the largest predominantly African-American municipality in Florida and boasts thousands of Caribbean and Hispanic residents. The City is the home of the Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Dolphins football team, University of Miami Hurricanes football team, Orange Bowl football game, 2020 Super Bowl, Miami Tennis Open and most recently the Miami Dolphins Training Facility. It is the future home of Formula One Miami Grand Prix Race. The City has demonstrated steady growth in the areas of community and economic development, and has gained a reputation for being a premier destination in South Florida.
