Walk for Hope unites local colleges, universities, & the greater Harrisonburg, VA community to promote mental health & suicide prevention. ABOUT:  Walk for Hope unites students, faculty, and staff from area universities & colleges along with local community members to raise awareness of depression and suicide prevention. It is an opportunity for our community to come together to highlight the importance of mental health, decrease stigma, and encourage hope. We invite you to join us as we Walk for Hope! James Madison University is hosting this year's 10th annual walk. Directly following the walking portion of the event this year's speakers will be discussing mental health awareness and suicide prevention in our community. Creative arts activities, refreshments, and mental health resource information will also be available. The walk and all activities are free to attend and open to the public. All are encouraged and welcome to participate. Please register and join us for this year's Walk for Hope!  EVENT SCHEDULE: Saturday, March 26, 2022 LOCATION: James Madison University Atlantic Union Bank Center - 645 University Blvd, Harrisonburg, VA 22801 12:30 - 1:00 PM:  Check-in / pick up your FREE Tee shirt 1:00 PM:  The walk begins from in front of the main entrance of the JMU Atlantic Union Bank Center 1:45PM - 4:00 PM:  The walk will return to the Atlantic Union Bank Center, where we are excited to welcome this year's speaker. The welcome and opening remarks will begin around 1:45 pm. Creative arts activities, resources, and refreshments will follow the speaker.     ***INCLEMENT WEATHER: Walk for Hope will be held rain or shine. Participants will have the option to salk at 1pm, and/or to join for the indoor portion of the event (welcome/speaker/activities) in the Atlantic Union Bank Center beginning at 1:45 pm. ***PARKING: Free general event parking is available in the Ballard Parking Deck (649 University Blvd). ***Dogs are welcome to join for the walking portion of Walk for Hope, however due to campus regulations they are unfortunately not permitted inside buildings on JMU's campus.
