Description

An evening flower crown workshop complete with a styled portrait mini photoshoot to raise funds for The Retreat to combat domestic violence. In honor of Women's History Month and International Women's Day (March 8th), we will come together on March 9th in Huntington Village for a night of female empowerment and impact surrounded by flowers. The event will raise funds for The Retreat and its work to help victims of domestic abuse on Long Island. Join us as we let go of the daily stresses of life, tap into our ethereal spirits, and ground ourselves in nature with a relaxing flower crown workshop while harnessing and embracing the power and potential of our collective womanhood. Using only natural materials and locally-grown flowers, each participant will design a crown that is reflective of their own personal style and personality; and then have their portrait photographed amidst a styled Mother Nature-inspired throne setting by the talented Leanne Gelish. Disconnect, recenter, and empower. Celebrate Women. Support Women. Ticket Includes: - Guided flower crown workshop led by Hometown Flower Co. featuring a flower bar filled with an assortment of fresh and dried locally-grown flowers and foliage - Professional individual and group portraits photographed by Leanne Gelish and access to private event photography gallery - Access to professionally styled photography setting, inspired by an ethereal Mother Nature throne, by Brugger and Co. Decor and Hometown Flower Co. - Wine, light bites, and sweets thanks to the generous support of Coisa Boa Kitchen & Events, NoFo DoCo, and more - Private access to LaunchPad's Huntington Village event space, which has been generously donated for this event - And more! In pursuit of that mission, The Retreat provides direct services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, their families and the Eastern Long Island community through a 24-hour bilingual hotline, counseling, legal advocacy, prevention education, and emergency shelter. Violence prevention education and other supportive programs are available in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Learn More: https://allagainstabuse.org/ Hometown Flower Co. connects people who love flowers with the local farmers who grow them. A new take on the traditional neighborhood florist, Hometown Flower Co. offers fresh local varieties delivered right to your doorstep through one-off purchases, monthly subscriptions, and through its vintage pick-up truck, Baby Blue, a 1976 Ford F-100, reimagined to become Long Island’s first mobile flower truck. Our mission is simple; to encourage people to look no further than their hometowns to find beauty grown nearby, and to provide access to locally-grown varieties in places where our farmers are typically unable to consistently reach. Inspired by a third generation flower designer’s experience growing up around the floral industry and witnessing how removed consumers and retailers were from where and how their flowers were sourced, Hometown Flower Co. was founded with a strong desire to change the status quo and encourage people to embrace their roots.
