We're looking for some amazing volunteers to help work our upcoming Special Olympics Texas Area 18 Basketball Competition! Come join us! Thank you for volunteering for the Special Olympics Texas Area 18 Basketball Competition! We're excited to have you with us helping to create a fun and competitive experience for our athletes! Please see the available volunteer assignments from the list below. When registering, please pay close attention to the shift times available as some assignments have multiple shift options. Volunteer Assignments: Assignments are available for morning and/or afternoon shifts. Afternoon shifts include helping with breakdown.Shift Options Include: Score/Clock Keepers - Volunteers will be assigned to run the scoreboard and clock for either the 3v3 or 5v5 basketball games.Individual/Team Skills - Volunteers will assist in running the individual and team skills competitions.Equipment/Facility - Volunteers will assist in making sure all competition and event areas have the equipment and items needed to facilitate their area as well as restock water coolers and move equipment as needed.Awards Shifts - Volunteers will be assigned various lanes to monitor and give out awards to athletes as they're earned throughout the event day.Volunteer Check-In - Assist with guiding volunteers to their correct shift areas for training.Lunch Shifts - Volunteers would help serve lunch to our athletes and coaches and assist with set up and tear down of the space. Training: All volunteers will be trained prior to starting your shift and will be instructed on where to report upon arrival. General Information: Attire: Face masks are required at all times. Please dress for comfort and mobility. Wear comfortable closed-toe shoes - you will be on your feet most of the time. Sandals and open toe shoes are not permitted at Special Olympics Texas competitions.Parking: General parking is available at the venue.Age Limit: Must be at least 15 Years old to volunteer without a parent/guardian present. Each volunteer will need to register individually. Please pay attention to the shift time when you register. Our MissionThe mission of Special Olympics Texas is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
