BOLINGBROOK, IL — The number of coronavirus cases among students and staff members of the Valley View School District went up a bit during last week, according to recent data. As of Friday, 12 staff members and 13 students tested positive for COVID-19 during the week. These numbers have increased from the week before that when four students and five staff members had tested positive for the virus. The number of reported cases has been going down each week. This comes after the district decided to pause on-site learning for all students, including those in special programs or targeted groups starting Nov. 16. This extended period of full-remote learning will continue until after the winter break when the district plan on implementing a phased return on-site, dependent on the level of community transmission at that time. The updated tentative timeline can be accessed here. As of Monday, a total of 147 employees and 207 students have tested positive for the virus since July.
