Description

Get ready for the Ninth Annual Pacific Pride Foundation PROUD Prom! About This EventAfter two long years, it's finally time to return in-person for PROUD Prom on May 21st from 7pm- 10pm at Direct Relief (6100 Wallace Becknell Rd., Santa Barbara, CA, 93117)! PROUD Prom is one incredible evening for queer and trans junior high and high school youth to dance, express themselves, and celebrate with others like them in a space that is undeniably and unabashedly pro-LGBTQIA+! PROUD Prom is presented by Pacific Pride Foundation, Santa Barbara County's LGBTQ+ and HIV/AIDS organization. Why PROUD Prom? For LGBTQIA+ teens, Prom can be a stressful and unpleasant experience. From repressive dress codes and unfair rules about who can be a prom date, to concerns about safety- a lot can get in the way of queer and trans teens fully enjoying their school prom. PROUD Prom is a space for youth where queer and trans affirmation, celebration, and liberation are centered. Know before you go:This year's PROUD Prom does not have a specific theme- let your imagination run wild! This event is open to all junior high, high school, and homeschooled students in the junior high- high school age range.Identifying as LGBTQIA+ is NOT required to attend- straight and cis allies are welcome!Bring a prom date (or two, or three)! Just make sure your date/s are also in junior high- high school and have their own ticket. No dress code*! Come in your favorite fancy clothes, cosplay, leftover Halloween costume, t-shirt and jeans- whatever you feel best in! *This is a youth event so use your best judgement for what is appropriate to wear. All youth MUST have: your own ticket and proof of COVID vaccination (COVID vaccination card or a copy/ photo of it). This event is FREE! Thank you to our donors and sponsors who make this event possible. There will be security on-site for the safety of attendees.By purchasing a ticket to this event, you agree to PPF's Liability Waiver.COVID-19 SafetyIn order to have a safe and fun PROUD Prom, we will be enforcing the following rules regarding COVID-19 safety.
