Hands-on workshop that covers the basics of backyard shiitake mushroom cultivation. Anson County Horticulture Agent, Aimee Colf, will cover home-scale shiitake production. $20 workshop fee. Workshop location is the Anson Co. Farmers Market, Saturday, March 26, 10am-2pm. Two fresh logs will be provided to registered participants who will have an opportunity to inoculate workshop logs to take home. Topics include tree selection, log prep, tools, spawn selection, inoculation, log care, site selection, and fruiting. $20 registration can be made payable to "Anson Cooperative Extension" located at 501 McLaurin St., Wadesboro, NC 28170. Participants will choose a 1 hr. time slot: 10am, 11am, Noon, or 1pm. Register early, spots will fill quickly.
