MALDEN, MA — The city council will weigh using the Malden Moose Hall as a polling place for one of the city's new voting precincts. The council will take up the matter at its March 1 meeting. If approved, the building at 562 Broadway would serve as the voting location for residents in the newly formed Ward 6, Precinct 3. The precinct was one of eight precincts and three sub-precincts created during the city's redistricting process, which determines where people will vote for the next decade based on census data. Malden's population increased by about 7,000 people from 2010 to 2020, according to the city. There are now 27 voting precincts overall. The new voting map and precinct lines, which can be viewed here, took effect Dec. 31. On Feb. 17, the Secretary of State approved the Moose Hall as a proposed location for Ward 6, Precinct 3. A full list of the 27 proposed polling locations may be viewed here. The new map and precinct lines became effective as of December 31, 2021. The new map can be found here. Residents are encouraged to look to the City of Malden (www.cityofmalden.org\vote) website for up-to-date information, as the state is in the process of updating its database and currently lists the old and outdated information.
