Press release from the Concord Police Department: February 24, 2022 Concord-The Concord Police Department has recently received reports of catalytic converters being stolen from vehicles. These types of thefts are occurring throughout the country due to the increasing prices of precious metals which are contained within the catalytic converters. Thieves have targeted vehicles such as small buses, pickups, and Toyota Prius cars during the early morning hours between 1am-3am. It takes less than thirty seconds for a thief to cut a catalytic converter from the bottom of a vehicle. The department is asking community members to be aware of this issue and to call the department if they see or hear anything suspicious.
