BOLINGBROOK, IL — The Bolingbrook Police Department said a man who pointed a gun at a driver in a suspected road rage incident now faces charges.
According to Lt. Anthony Columbus, Joseph P. Colonero, 33, of the 2000 block of Dunhill Lane in Aurora, has been charged with aggravated assault. Investigators spoke to his attorney and an arrangement was reached for peaceful surrender.
He turned himself in at 4:45 p.m. Thursday, two days after the incident, police said.
At approximately 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, a woman was traveling east on Boughton road at Brighton Lane when she saw two vehicles — a black pickup truck and a white Lincoln MKZ — that appeared to be involved in a road rage incident.
She inadvertently drove in between the two cars, police said.
"The man in the white MKZ slammed on the brakes causing the victim to make an evasive maneuver," Columbus said. "As the woman passed the MKZ, the man driving it pointed a handgun at her."
A video of the incident was posted to social media.
Columbus said the incident was not initially reported to the police. After the video was posted on social media, Bolingbrook police were able to locate the victim and a report was filed.
