SANTA MONICA, CA — The Los Angeles County public health department on Thursday advised residents to stay out of the water at the Santa Monica Pier due to increased bacteria levels.
The advisory for the Santa Monica Pier has been in place for over two weeks. Residents have been advised to avoid many local beaches in recent months due to elevated bacteria levels.
Four other beaches were included in Thursday's bacteria advisory including Mother's Beach in Marina del Rey, Topanga Canyon Beach in Malibu, Malibu Point at Surfrider Beach and Malibu Lagoon at Surfrider Beach.
