SANTA CRUZ, CA — Santa Cruz Mayor Sonja Brunner awarded $15,982 to Hope Services, a Santa Cruz organization providing training and support services to adults with developmental disabilities. Brunner presented the check Tuesday on behalf of the City and the Downtown Association's Parking for Hope program. Hope Services staff and workers accepted the check virtually. Funds were collected from Dec. 18-25 during the eighth annual Parking for Hope downtown holiday parking program. Funds collected from parking meters during those eight days were donated to Hope Services. Parking for Hope has generated a total of $218,507 in funds that support the Downtown Litter Abatement Crew at Hope Services, according to a city news release. Currently, six workers with developmental disabilities help keep the downtown clean.
