Woodbury Elementary Staffer Tests Positive For Coronavirus

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — A Shaker Heights Schools staffer has tested positive for COVID-19, the district announced. "Our greatest priority is the safety of our students, staff and community members. Out of an overabundance of caution, we are closing the Woodbury building Monday and Tuesday, October 12 and 13 to thoroughly clean and to allow the District the opportunity to coordinate with the Cuyahoga County Board of Health," the district said in a statement to families. The Cuyahoga County Board of Health is closed on weekend and Monday is Columbus Day, making the promised collaboration between district and health officials difficult. The infected staffer was last in the Woodbury building on Tuesday, district officials said. Any Woodbury staffers who were also in the building last week should continue to take normal COVID-19 precautions and monitor their health. "We appreciate the prompt and responsible reporting of positive COVID-19 tests from our staff. This is a reminder that, per the District's Student Health and Safety Guidelines, if a student exhibits symptoms consistent with COVID-19, the student's family should contact the building administrator to report the suspected positive case. District staff should continue to notify Human Resources of any positive or presumed positive COVID-19 cases," Superintendent David Glasner said. Since Sept. 8, there have been no active COVID-19 cases among Shaker Heights students.
