LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Residents are criticizing Laguna Beach officials for a citywide campaign launched during Black History Month that they say is reminiscent of the "All Lives Matter" movement, The Daily Pilot reported. City officials declared February as "Ethnic Diversity and Black History Month" and partnered with a local nonprofit called "We All Matter" to host related events around Laguna Beach, the Pilot reported. As part of the campaign, the city hung banners that read "We All Matter" and made no mention of Black History Month. Although the banners were later changed to mention Black History Month, residents still claimed "We All Matter" sounded too similar to "All Lives Matter," a movement that arose in opposition to "Black Lives Matter," the Pilot reported.
