Masks No Longer Required At Kane County Courts Starting Feb. 28

GENEVA, IL — On Feb. 28, the same day the mask mandate will be lifted in both Illinois and Chicago, people will no longer be required to wear masks when in Kane County courts, officials announced Wednesday. The decision is based on an amended court order issued by the Supreme Court of Illinois and 16th Judicial Circuit General Tuesday, according to Chief Judge Clint Hull. "Even though the mask mandate is lifted, people still choosing to wear a mask or face covering while in court may be directed to remove it by a judge if they are testifying," Hull said in a statement. "We continue to move through the pandemic with an abundance of caution while still allowing access to justice. A majority of our courtrooms remain Zoom-friendly, allowing court-goers to attend court from their homes." People could be denied access to courts based on the following criteria: New flu-like symptomsDirected to quarantine by a health provider or public health officialReside or have close contact with a person currently subject to a quarantine directed by a medical provider and are not they themselves fully vaccinated
