High: 32 Low: 26. Here are the top three stories today in Grand Rapids: The City of Grand Rapids is inviting citizens to fill various open seats on local boards and commissions. Officials report that they want the community to have input regarding the direction the city goes in the future. Currently, the city has 42 boards and commissions with open positions. (WOODTV.com)Grand Rapids Board of Education member Jose Flores has announced his candidacy for the newly-created 83rd Michigan House District. Flores will be running as a Democrat on a platform of improving education and helping small businesses recover from the pandemic. The new district has a population of 91,341 people with a diverse membership. (mlive.com)Part of Bridge Street will be closed to traffic from Monday, Mar. 7 through Mar. 18. The street connects the westside to downtown Grand Rapids. Sidewalks will still be open for pedestrians but vehicles will be detoured to Mt. Vernon Avenue NW for eastbound traffic and Scribner Avenue NW for westbound traffic.
