Independently-owned neighborhood surf shop currently hiring remarkable, world-class, customer service oriented employees for Friday and Saturday shifts only Fridays 1pm-6:30pm Saturdays 6:30am-1pm Saturdays 1pm-6:30pm Notable Duties and Responsibilities Include: -Showing up to work 5 to 15 minutes early everyday to ensure you are never late (may clock in and begin working immediately as you are ready) -Genuinely, enthusiastically, kindly, and personally greeting surf customers - both from the neighborhood and from all over the world, welcoming them to our beloved El Porto community, introducing them to our beach and our neighborhood -Helping renters, as well as local surfers, get out of the store into the ocean as quickly and as happily as possible -Keeping the shop immaculately clean, beautifully organized, and ever-more simplified to maximize the customer experience (and minimize employee stress) -Joyously cleaning the rental wetsuits and rental surfboards -Sweeping -Vacuuming -Making minor ding repairs on rental surfboards (and customer surfboards, for tips) -Making minor repairs on rental wetsuits (and customer wetsuits, for tips) -Proudly keeping the parking lot immaculately clean -Emptying all trash cans every day -Adding retail items to inventory -Folding, organizing, and displaying merchandise -Working with your fellow employees as teammates -Being directly responsible to the owner, and to the team, to be accountable for all duties and responsibilities -Communicating with customers over the phone, through email, and our shop text line -Filling and shipping e-com orders -Adding product photos to website -Making and sharing the free coffee with our shop coffee maker every morning -Doing your absolute best and giving your all at any task assigned while on the clock -Maximizing the customer experience at every opportunity -Working to make this little 26 year old surf shop a world famous landmark to surfers here and across the globe -Having the time of your life while at work and keeping the stoke high -Opening/Closing store (key holder position) Required skills and experience: -Live within convenient drive (for your own sake) -Surf (you must be a surfer, and you must love surfing Porto!) -Kind-hearted, friendly, customer-first and team-first attitude -Computer literate, comfortable using/ learning POS, some experience preferred -Reliable and accountable -Punctual -Some minimal diy board repair experience preferred, wetsuit repair experience similarly desirable Pay: Hourly $16+ Earn up to an additional two dollars and fifty cents per hour (or more) in commission from sales and services Earn occasional tips from customers for providing exceptional service Perks and Benefits: Surf Porto before or after every shift!
