SAN DIEGO, CA — Authorities Friday confirmed that the bodies of a missing San Diego County couple were found in Baja California.
Ian Hirschsohn, 78, of Solana Beach and Kathy Harvey, 73, of Tierrasanta, retirees vacationing together about 200 miles south of the border, were found days after their vehicle was found in Ensenada, CBS8 first reported. Relatives of the pair told the news station that foul play is suspected.
Harvey, a retired physical therapist texted her son on August 28 to say that the couple was planning on exploring a gold mine or spending a day at the beach before returning home on Aug. 31, CBS8 reported. But Hirschsohn and Harvey never made it home, and their families are left to grieve hundreds of miles away from the investigation into their deaths.
"She was really enjoying retirement and had multiple groups of friends," her son Robert Harvey told CBS8. "She loved walking and traveling. She had a huge bucket list of where she wanted to go."
According to a Facebook post by Hirschsohn's daughter, he had owned a home in Baja since 1985 and was an avid windsurfer, who knew the area well.
