Seeking Landscaper - with potential for business ownership start 2023
Jobs
Orleans MA
Description
Hello, I am looking for the right motivated person to jump in full time for the entirety of the 2022 landscape season. We are a small team, 2-3 guys, and the majority of our work is in Orleans. Pay depends on experience, but starts at $25/hour and you could work 40+ hours often through the season. I could pay the right motivated person more, after a period of working together and seeing the extent of their experience and/or willingness to learn and work, as long as they are committed through the season of course. The ideal candidate: -I am looking for someone who is motivated, responsible, hard working, honest, reliable, respectful, all the good stuff. -Can consistently show up on time, prepared for a full work day, and full work week. -Is self motivated and present and can understand/complete the task at hand. -Can stay through the entire workday. -Non smoker, no drama. -Has a positive can-do attitude. -Has good communication. -Has a license and own transportation. -Can see what needs to get done, and does it. -Has self control with phone use; I understand podcasts and music are helpful to get through the labor intensive days, but I cannot have someone checking their phone every 10 minutes. -Capable of being a point person on the job and my "right hand man" on days I have to work elsewhere or cannot be there. -Experience is a plus as long as you have good habits and can still follow direction - but I would be willing to train the right person, as long as they understand this is a physically demanding job. Our mission is to be an environmentally conscious landscape business providing excellent quality mowing and landscape maintenance services. We are focused on improving the health of the local landscape and dedicated to using organic and regenerative methods as much as possible, while creating and maintaining a positive and supportive work environment. The scope of our work basically starts with spring cleanups, pruning, edging/mulching, mowing, occasional tree work and brush clearing, through fall cleanups. While I am very much environmentally minded and enjoy getting to apply permaculture skills and principles, the reality on the Cape is that the majority of our work is mowing and maintenance and we are very established with our core set of customers. We are a small operation but we have a lot of accounts and a lot of work. To get that way, it has taken a lot of time, labor and motivation from me. I want a respectful work environment that is mutually beneficial and I truly want to be able to pay my employees as well as I can as long as they are showing up fully. I reward hard work and responsibility. I would not ask anyone to do anything that I would not or have not already done, therefore no employee is “above” doing any specific jobs and cannot pass off challenging work to others. This work is inherently labor intensive and we work as a team to complete each job. *If you have read this far, most importantly*: What is unique about this opportunity is the very real possibility for the right candidate to be able to buy and take over the entire business for a reasonable price at the end of this season. I can discuss more details about this with the right candidate, but believe me, this is an incredible opportunity. The business is extremely solid with a very consistent and increasing monthly income over the years and I have more work available than I can handle, with very loyal customers all within about a 5 mile range. Plain and simple, no curve balls, and most people would think we’re crazy to walk away from such an established business. My current employees do not have the experience and therefore ability to take it over.
