Description

BATAVIA, IL — The Panera Bread bakery in Batavia permanently closed up shop earlier this week without warning or explanation. Customers who stopped by the bakery Wednesday were met with locked doors, a sign that read "This location is permanently closed" and a list of nearby Panera locations. The bakery at 154 W. Wilson St. has also been removed from a list of locations on the company's website. Panera Bread has not disclosed why it permanently closed its location at 154 W. Wilson St. this week. Representatives for the company did not respond Thursday to Patch's request for more information. It is also unclear if employees at the Batavia location lost their jobs or were transferred to other locations. This is a developing story. Check back to Patch.com for more details.
