About JJ Corry and founder Louise McGuane: Louise McGuane began resurrecting the lost art of Irish Whiskey Bonding on her family farm in County Clare in 2015. Since that time, she has sourced whiskey from all over Ireland to build her flavor library in her custom dunnage warehouse, hand selecting each cask for aging from bodegas in Spain and cooperages and whiskey distilleries in the US, even agave casks from Mexico! As the first modern and first ever female Bonder, Louise embraces tradition and history while creating innovative new blends. About Jena Ellenwood: Jena Ellenwood is a global award winning bartender, writer, performer, and cocktail educator based in NYC. She is an Executive American Whiskey Steward, a Cicerone Certified Beer Server, and is studying for her Certified Specialist of Spirits test. Jena became the first member of the J.J.Corry U.S. Bond Squad in 2021 and is absolutely thrilled to work with such an amazing team of women while sharing the story of Irish Whiskey Bonding. About the whiskeys: The Gael- our flagship A blend of Malt and Grain Whiskey, Gael is the perfect marriage of Irish Whiskey flavours. Comprised of some of the oldest whiskeys in our library of flavours, The Gael is the perfect representation of our fruit bomb house style with layers of complexity. Aged in ex sherry and bourbon barrels. The Hanson- It is a meticulous blend of Irish Grain Whiskey from multiple distilleries. Four and ten years old and ex-bourbon barrel aged, the result is a whiskey with rich, deep, bourbon-influenced notes - vanilla fudge and toasted coconut - on the nose, with zingy top notes of griddled pineapple and lime. A fresh start to the palate with green apples, backed by rye grass, leads to a bright finish too, with lemongrass and hints of salinity and minerality. The Hanson, bottled at 46% abv and without any artificial colouring or chill-filtration, is perfect enjoyed by itself or in a refreshing cocktail. About Bia (from Hudson Valley Magazine): Open since spring 2019, Bia (pronounced bee-ya) brings a sliver of the Emerald Isle to the heart of Dutchess County. Named after the Gaelic term for alimentation, food, and sustenance, the restaurant is a passion project from proprietor and general manager Kyle Kelley, who cultivated his expertise at places like Mill House Brewing Company in Poughkeepsie and Gigi’s in Rhinebeck, and Chef Rich Reeve, who garnered quite the following during his time at the now-closed Elephant in Kingston....In ode to Bia’s Irish theme, the menu is a true harmony of Hudson Valley ingredients and Emerald Isle tradition. Diners can commence their meal with house Irish stout and treacle bread, a slightly sweet and nutty bread sprinkled with toasted dillisk seaweed and served alongside cultured Irish butter. It’s the perfect amuse bouche for a main course that leans into beautifully apportioned platters of local meats and produce." FAQ: How long are tickets on sale for? Tickets will be on sale through Friday, March 11 at 4pm so that Bia can place orders with their suppliers. Do I need to tip? No, you are not expected to tip on top of the ticket price. But it's hard out there, so if you're able we strongly recommend that you donate to Roar.NY in lieu of a gratuity. Can I make a substitution? This is a set menu that's exclusive to this event. Choose whether you'd like the pork or vegetarian entree option when you purchase your ticket. Women Who Whiskey is a space dedicated to learning and the love of whiskey, without mansplaining.
