Panning for Gold "Panning for Gold" Guest Speaker :  Sister Frances Smalkowski   "For I am sending an angel before you to guard you on the way and bring you to the place I have prepared. Be attentive to him and heed his voice." (Exodus 23:20-21a)  Sister Frances Smalkowski, CSFN, RN, PMHCNS-BC-Retired, has been a Sister of the Holy Family of Nazareth for close to 62 years; a Nurse over 55 years; a Certified Psychiatric Clinical Nurse specialist and, a Certified Chaplain over 30 years.     Currently, she is the Director of Pastoral Care at St.John Paul II Center in Danbury. She started as a Staff Nurse and admitted the first resident in1984. She also maintains a part-time private practice in Psychiatric Nursing and Spiritual Direction in her Monroe convent.     Over 25 years, she has been involved in the formation ministry; taught in the Bridgeport diocese diaconate program; and mentored students in psychiatric nursing and chaplaincy.     She has written numerous short articles, songs, and poems. "Panning for Gold" is her poetry chapbook published in 2005.
