Sea-Level Rise in the Classroom with Teachers on the Estuary
Explore sea-level rise science from the intersection of social and environmental issues. This multi-day interactive workshop introduces science and social studies educators to the "Sea-Level Rise in the Classroom" curriculum. This curriculum fosters science-to-civics literacy through a high school curriculum focused on sea-level rise resilience and community-driven solutions.
Through the Teachers on the Estuary (TOTE) educators will be immersed in the beautiful setting of Mission-Aransas National Estuarine Research Reserve as they learn about environmental monitoring programs and ways to incorporate this real-time data into their classrooms.
This workshop is for Texas high school science and social studies educators. We welcome classroom teachers, informal educators, homeschool educators, curriculum specialists, and more. If you are interested in using the lessons with your students or sharing with other educators, please register.
All workshop participants will receive a $100 stipend, 20 contact hours, and lunch.
This workshop is supported through the NOAA Environmental Literacy Program. For more details about our project including the workshops for other Gulf of Mexico states please visit our project page: https://placeslr.org/our-work/projects/environmental-literacy-program-project/.
