Through the seven vortices of the chakras, and through the seven planes of the subtle body or aura, cosmic energy moves downward, from spirit into form, and outward, from matter into spirit. The energy of the chakra system draws life-force into our bodies and animates us. Everything in the natural world is fed by this universal energy. As we move through the world, the energy we exchange with others and with our environment is gathered up and absorbed into our auric fields. It is through this vibrational relationship, between body and spirit, mind and matter, and heaven and earth, that we live and have our beings. Our physical health as well as our spiritual wellness depend upon the power and vitality of our energy systems, for we are connected through our subtle energy systems to the intelligence of the universe—in a phrase, we are united with one another and with the cosmos through our bodies of light! In the chakra system, each vortex contains (among other energetic patterns) programmed or imprinted energy that governs our experience.
