Walking tour in San Diego's Historic Gaslamp Quarter. *Tour starts at the Gaslamp Arch, near the Starbucks Coffee shop at 209 5th Avenue The Gaslamp Quarter is one of the oldest neighborhoods in San Diego, located in the heart of today's modern downtown. Join Kris for a walk through this historic area to learn about it's beginnings as a rival to "Old Town" due to its prime location near the bay. We'll talk about early pioneers like William Heath Davis and Alonzo Horton who's vision helped shape the future of America's finest city. Our main focus will be on 5th avenue with its beautifully restored Victorian buildings. Make sure to bring your camera, or mobile phone and I will point out some amazing photos you can take along the way. This walk is suitable for ages 3 and up. All minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The terrain is mostly flat pavement. Sunscreen, water, hat, and sunglasses are recommended when the weather is hot. Kris gained his experience as a volunteer with Forever Balboa Park, the busiest visitor center in San Diego. He continues to donate his time there as a tour guide and information desk attendant. He has also donated his time as a Gaslamp Quarter tour guide and docent with the Gaslamp Museum at the Davis-Horton House, and a board member of the San Diego Professional Tour Guide Association.
