VIDEO: Florida Man Steals Crossbow By Stuffing It Down His Pants

MIMS, FL — A Florida man recently took carrying a concealed weapon to a whole new level by proving it is, in fact, possible to hide a crossbow in your pants. The demonstration was all caught on camera and posted this week to social media. "You can't make this stuff up," Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said on Facebook. According to the sheriff's office, on Feb. 6, 2022, employees at the True Value Store in Mims discovered that two crossbows had been stolen from the store. After reviewing video surveillance footage, workers observed a man walking into the store, stealing a pair of cutting tools off the shelf, and then cutting the zip ties off of a Ravin Rio crossbow. WATCH: Man Stuffs Crossbow Down Pants Deputies said the man, later identified as Darren Durrant, can be seen walking around the corner from where the crossbows were shelved and then stuffing a crossbow down the front of his pants so he could walk out the store undetected. Durrant was located a couple of days later in the parking lot of a nearby Walgreens, the sheriff's office said. "Believe it or not, Durrant actually fled on foot when he observed Deputy Michael Lindo although as you might imagine after seeing the video, he didn't get very far!!" the sheriff's office said on Facebook. Durrant is currently in the Seminole County Jail on an unrelated burglary charge; however, he's now facing charges in Brevard County for felony petit theft.
