STAMFORD, CT — Due to the timing on Friday's snowstorm, garbage and recycling collection has been canceled for Feb. 25, according to an announcement from the city of Stamford. Collection will be postponed until Feb. 26. "Please do not place toters curbside until Friday night to avoid snow plow damage," the city said in a tweet Thursday. According to the National Weather Service, snow is expected to move into Connecticut around midnight tonight. An initial burst of moderate to heavy snow in the overnight hours will transition to ice, the weather service said. For I-95 corridor towns specifically, according to the NWS, a winter weather advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. Thursday until 6 p.m. Friday. "Mixed precipitation expected. Total combined snow and sleet accumulations of 2 to 4 inches and ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch," the NWS said. For more on the forecast for Connecticut, click here.
