National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Grand Rapids Chapter #194 is celebrating national Women in Construction week. National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Grand Rapids Chapter #194 is celebrating national Women in Construction week. NAWIC Grand Rapids would like to invite you to join us as we start the weeklong Celebration of Women in Construction Week 2022. Our first event this year is our WIC Week 2022 Community Giving Event in support of Family Promise of Grand Rapids. https://www.familypromisegr.org/ Family Promise of Grand Rapids provides emergency shelter and basic needs to families with children who are facing a housing crisis. We make sure families have somewhere safe to sleep each night through one of our 3 shelter programs. We then work with families to identify why they lost their home and help them overcome those obstacles. Whether it was a job loss, medical crisis, family break up etc. Once families have found a stable and sustainable housing solution, we walk alongside them in our Welcome Home program to help ensure they never become homeless again! Details for your volunteer date: Help rehab a manufactured house to make it a beautiful and affordable home for a family. Tasks may include painting, small demo, yardwork, trash removal, hanging blinds, cleaning, etc. EVERYONE is welcome. Address: TBD – Actual location will be shared once we have a better idea of number of people volunteering. We may be split up between multiple locations if we have a large turnout.Parking: Try to park out front of the home. If there's not parking right outside the home Family Promise’s facilitator can help point you in the right direction. Attire: Please dress comfortably in clothing you don't mind getting paint or dirt on. Sneakers/Boots are best! If you would like to make a personal or company donation, they are always in need of the following along with monetary donations: We are ALWAYS in need of the following: Silverware Toasters Pots and Pans Cooking utensils Small appliances (Microwave, Coffee Pots) Pillows Twin Bed Sheets Blankets Bath Towels Shower Curtains and Hooks Gas cards Brooms, mops and dust pans Short sleeved, white undershirts for all sizes (baby through XXL, including Men’s) Baby Wipes Dish Soap Deodorant Women’s hygiene products Tissue (Kleenex) Diapers sizes 4-6 Buckets with basic cleaning supplies Strollers (New and/or used…any type) Dishes and glasses Gift cards (Meijer, Family Dollar, Walmart…) Vacuums We will be going out to Dinner after the Volunteer Portion. Location TBD and will depend on where the house is that we will be working on. More to follow once we get closer to the actual date.
